8th Annual Spectacular Gift Drive For DCF Wonderfund ⋆ Boston Emissions with Anngelle Wood

Spectacular Gift Drive for DCF Wonderfund returns for the eighth year. This time, with special festive performances from The Goddamn Glenn & Gene Dante Holiday Special — of Parlour Bells and Gene Dante and The Future Starlets respectively. We welcome Heather Rose In Clover from Providence, and Erica Mantone, who’ll do songs from her forthcoming debut EP, out in 2020.

Every year we collect gifts and deliver them to the Cambridge DCF office on Memorial Drive to be distributed to families in the area. I ask for new, unwrapped gifts for children currently in foster care locally. Babies, toddlers, pre-teens, and teens are all in need. Teenagers, in particular, like gift cards. Items needed include clothing, hats, mittens, winter wear, sporting goods, personal care items, art supplies, games, electronics, musical instruments, books, gift cards for area retail stores like Target, Walmart, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Old Navy, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Newbury Comics, and more.

The Wonderfund strives to empower every child involved with DCF to experience hope, confidence, and joy. They are an ordinary group of people on an extraordinary mission to bring the magic and meaning of childhood into the lives of children who have been impacted by trauma, abuse and neglect. Purpose
Research shows that childhood trauma makes it more likely for people to suffer from addiction, mental health issues, chronic illness, and early death. By supporting traumatized children, the Wonderfund can help them build resiliency, confidence, and agency over their own lives. We can help them overcome significant obstacles and increase their chance of becoming healthy, productive adults.
